The main risks

As bone demineralization, the muscle loss is a risk factor for dependency. Indeed, depending on its intensity, the muscle loss leads to a disease called sarcopenia. It presents serious  onsequences : weakness, decreased quality of life, fragility, increased risk of falls, fractures and loss of independence. It appears that to preserve its autonomy, it is equally important to preserve our muscle that our bone stock.

Depending on age and muscle loss degree, the risks and consequences are highly variable:

• Gradual decrease in muscle strength
• fatigability resulting in decreased physical activity
• Weakness
• Increased risk of falls and fractures
• Increased risk of dependency and loss of quality of life
